1. Madagascar is an island country located in the Indian Ocean, about 250 miles (402 kilometers) east of Mozambique, Africa. It’s the second-largest island country in the world after New Guinea.

2. Madagascar features a narrow, hot coastal plain along the east, a high central plateau, and flat plains and low plateaus in the west.

3. The central plateau experiences cooler temperatures than other parts of the country due to the higher altitude.

4. Madagascar’s highest point is Maromokotro Peak, which reaches 9,436 feet (2,876 meters) and is located in the northern part of the island in the Tsaratanana Massif. 

5. Madagascar is famous for its unique wildlife, including lemurs that are found only on the island. The island also has several national parks, like Isalo and Andasibe-Mantadia, that protect its rare animals and plants.
