Flags of Europe Quiz (All 49 Countries)

Test your knowledge of European flags below, or review them first if you need a refresher.

Europe is home to 49 countries, each with its own history, culture, and identity.

One of the easiest ways to recognize these nations is through their flags, which appear at international events, on government buildings, and as symbols of national pride.

How did you do?

If you recognized most of the flags, well done — but Europe can be surprisingly challenging. Many countries share similar color combinations, especially red, white, and blue. Telling them apart often comes down to small details like coat of arms, stripe order, and subtle design differences.

Some flags are easier to spot. Switzerland’s square flag with a bold white cross is instantly recognizable, while Greece stands out with its blue and white stripes and cross. The Nordic countries, including Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, share a common cross design, making them easier to group together once you recognize the pattern.
