Oceania Flag Quiz (All 16 Countries)

Test your knowledge of Oceania flags below, or review them first if you need a refresher.

Oceania is a vast and diverse region made up of 16 independent countries and numerous territories spread across the Pacific Ocean.

How did you score?

If you recognized most of the flags, well done! Oceania is one of the trickier continents because several flags share similar features. Six countries, Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, Niue and Tuvalu, feature the Union Jack, a legacy of British colonial history in the region. Telling them apart requires noticing the details: star patterns, background colors, and national symbols.

Some flags are more distinctive. Papua New Guinea’s flag features a bird-of-paradise and the Southern Cross constellation. Palau’s is a simple golden circle on a blue field, representing the full moon over the ocean. Vanuatu includes a boar’s tusk, a symbol of prosperity across Melanesia.
